# Plus AI — authentication for agents and developers

This document (served at `https://plusai.com/auth.md`) describes how AI agents
and developers authenticate with Plus AI's programmatic surfaces. The marketing
site itself (`plusai.com`) is public, static content and requires no
authentication.

## What you can access

Both REST APIs live under `https://api.plusdocs.com/r/v0` and share the same
API key and the Files API (`PUT /r/v0/files/upload`).

[`/.well-known/api-catalog`](/.well-known/api-catalog) (RFC 9727).

## REST APIs — API keys

1. A human creates a Plus AI account at <https://app.plusdocs.com/preinstall>
   (7-day free trial; API access requires a Pro or Team plan).
2. Generate an API key at <https://app.plusdocs.com/api-settings> (currently
   one active API key per user).
3. Send it on every request:

   ```
   Authorization: Bearer $PLUSAI_API_KEY
   ```

## MCP server — OAuth

Add the remote MCP URL `https://mcp.plusai.com/` to your MCP-capable client or
agent and complete the OAuth flow when prompted. The MCP server exposes Plus AI
presentation generation as tools. Setup guide:

## Agent self-registration

There is currently **no unattended agent self-registration**: a human must
create the Plus AI account and issue the API key (or approve the OAuth grant)
that an agent then uses. Keys are scoped to the organization that created them.
